Rental Assistance Grant Eligibility Expanded

The United Way and Lift to Rise have teamed up together to provide rental assistance for Riverside County residents who are behind in their rents due the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Riverside County has reserved $33 million to help pay rents and keep people in their homes.  Nearly 10,000 families can apply for up to $3,500 in grant funds to help with back rental payments since April 2020.

You can apply now or any time through November or until the $33 million fund is exhausted.  These are grants meaning you do not have to pay this money back.  However, you must apply for the grant in order to receive the funds.

Riverside County has contracted with United Lift to manage the rental assistance program.  United Lift, in collaboration with Riverside County, United Way of the Inland Valleys, and Lift To Rise, are seeking to keep 10,000 families and residents housed.

The rental assistance is intended to cover 100 percent of total past due rent, up to $3,500 per household.

To be eligible, you must:

  • Rent in the County of Riverside with a lease agreement
  • Show that you are behind in rent due to COVID-19
  • Have a valid form of identification
  • Provide documentation of pre-COVID-19 income
  • Give the phone number and email address of your landlord.

Applications are available now by going to: https://www.unitedlift.org/ or by dialing 2-1-1.
