The $12 million renovation and rebranding of the 289-room former Desert Princess Golf Resort hotel (at the corner of Vista Chino and Landau) has been completed. It you haven’t seen the inside of this 4-Star rated facility and its fantastic golf course views, it’s definitely worth stopping by for a visit.
Staybridge Suites Hotel
Staybridge Suites Hotel – Now open, this 200-room hotel near the Cimarron Golf Resort. Studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom suites will caters to extended-stay travelers who will certainly enjoy the property’s panoramic mountain views.
Honda of the Desert
Honda of the Desert invested some $2.5 million into the dealership, expanding the showroom floor by about 1,000-square-feet, along with other façade improvements and other upgrades.
Best Western Plus Hotel
Initial development steps are underway for a 91-room hotel in the northwest quadrant of the I-10/Bob Hope intersection – our first significant development north of the I-10. This project has completed its initial design review and will be joined by several freeway-adjacent fast food options. Additional mixed-use projects extending to the west of the hotel are also on the drawing board.
The North City Specific Plan area is nearly 5,000 acres in size and encompasses all land north of Interstate 10 within the City limits of Cathedral City. The annexation of 1,300 acres of the Specific Plan area was completed in December 2007. More than half of the land is preserved as an open space conservation area through the Coachella Valley Multiple Species Habitat Conservation (MSHCP).
Entertainment and Gaming District
The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians will development an area of about 13 acres at the northwest corner of Date Palm Drive and East Palm Canyon Drive in Cathedral City. The Tribe plans to create a master plan for a new mixed-use entertainment and gaming district.
The development will create jobs, revitalize downtown and support Cathedral City’s economic development efforts.
Sunniva Inc., a North American provider of medical cannabis products and services, is bringing advanced greenhouse technology to Cathedral City. The Sunniva Campus, a Good Manufacturing Practice designed facility, received a Conditional Use Permit clearing the path for what is expected to be a 489,000 square-foot medical cannabis cultivation and production facility to be constructed in two phases over the next three years. Plans are underway for the ground-breaking for Phase I of the facility which will take place before the end of the year.
Date Palm Corridor Study
The Date Palm Drive Corridor Connector Plan provides integrated land use and transportation planning in the City of Cathedral City. The Date Palm Drive Corridor is a major regional roadway connecting Cathedral City from the north and south to neighboring communities within the Coachella Valley, such as Desert Hot Springs, Palm Desert, Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage and Thousand Palms.
