Mayor Aguilar Calls on Residents to “Mask up to Protect Your Family”

Cathedral City is seeing a sharp increase in the number of confirmed coronavirus cases.  At the beginning of June, Cathedral City had 165 total cases for all of the months of March, April and May.  By June 30th, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases skyrocketed to 618, a 275% increase of the previous three months.

According to health experts, the best line of defense is for everyone to wear a mask or face covering to protect contaminated water droplets from spreading in the air when speaking, singing, coughing or sneezing and then being breathed in by others.  Along with hand washing, disinfecting touched items, social distancing by at least six feet, and staying home except for essential shopping and working, then and only then, can we begin to bend the curve.  Please know that just because more businesses are open does not mean that the virus is contained.  It is the opposite.  ICU beds in Riverside County are near capacity.  Our frontline healthcare workers are fatigued and need you to do your part so they can continue to do theirs.  Stay safe.

Mask up Cathedral City to protect your family!
